What is a Pediatrician?
A pediatrician is a doctor who has been trained as a specialist in the medical care of infants, children and adolescents. A pediatrician is especially qualified to care for newborns, follow infant development, and manage chronically ill children.

Well-Child Exams
One of the main responsibilities of the pediatrician is to provide routine well-child exams. At these visits we do a complete physical exam, evaluate growth and development, administer immunizations, and provide guidance and advice in the overall care of your child.

Hospital Care
If your child becomes ill enough to be hospitalized, we can care for your child at Sutter Amador Hospital, or if necessary the pediatrician will refer your child to be cared for by a pediatric sub-specialist at a hospital in Sacramento.

Immunizations
Immunizations are a very important part of the first two years of life. Please be sure to bring your child's immunization record to every appointment, and provide us a copy for our records at your child's first appointment with us. Recommendations for immunizations have changed quite a bit in the last few years. Please feel free to print a copy of the current recommended schedule for immunization and well-child exams.

Telephone Advice
We are available during office hours to address your concerns when you have a simple question that does not warrant an office visit, or if you are not sure whether you need an office visit for your child. Please allow up to 8 hours to receive a return call. In the event of an emergency, call 911.

After Hours
After the office has closed, there is always a physician on call to deal with urgent problems that cannot wait until the following day. Our pediatrician shares call with the family practice call group in Jackson. We also have a nurse advice line available after hours that can be accessed through the answering service when you call the office.

Appointments
Please call ahead to schedule an appointment for a specific time. We will see walk-in patients if they need to be seen that day, but only after patients with scheduled appointments have been seen. Please be clear about the reason for the appointment so that we can schedule the correct amount of time. Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to allow for check-in time. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, we will need to reschedule your appointment.

Fees and Billing
We accept most insurance plans and will bill your insurance for you. However, we expect all co-payments on deductibles to be paid at the time that service is rendered. Discounts may be available.
